Heather Younger is a bestselling author, international speaker, consultant, adjunct organizational leader professor, and a facilitator who has rightly earned her reputation as “the employee whisperer”.

And as a champion for positive change in the workplace, communities and in our world at large, Heather founded Employee Fanatics, a leading employee engagement and leadership development consulting and training firm to inspire others by teaching the kind of caring leadership that drives real business results.

Heather has a new book called The Art of Caring Leadership: How Leading with Heart Uplifts Teams and Organizations.

Back to the Basics:

Heather laughed at herself for this one, but she wanted to be a model and a singer as a child. Heather sings privately in the shower or alone in the car, but that is the extent to which she has lived out this childhood dream of hers.

Becoming a Voice for Employees

Heather’s career in caring leadership began at an organization where she was running the customer experience side of things. Through witnessing how management was poorly handling a merger and eventually had to downsize their company, Heather quickly realized that she was called to focus on the internal experience rather than the external. She decided that she would be the voice for employees and their workplace experiences.

Leadership has Impact

Bosses, managers, or leaders of any kind have the ability to impact an individual’s lives and make or break the experience employees have in the workplace. When leaders show kindness, it can positively impact the work environment and even how employees go home to their families at the end of the day. It can determine how long an individual will choose to stay working with their team.

Inspiration for The Art of Caring Leadership

Heather’s new book The Art of Caring Leadership was inspired by her podcast titled “Leadership with Heart”. After interviewing particularly inspirational leaders, Heather decided to expand her audience that might benefit from the knowledge that was shared in her podcast by also making the content available to individuals who might pick up a book instead of listening to a podcast.

Assess Your Caring Leadership

At the end of Heather’s new book is a self-assessment for those that are curious about their strengths and weaknesses in relation to caring leadership. Beyond that, Heather offers groups and courses to help strengthen areas of weakness in order to become a better caring leader. It’s not about perfection, as Heather clarifies. It’s more about the journey toward becoming a better, more compassionate leader.
